Ministers and Parents, LEARN from missionaries!

It would do well for every minister and every parent to pay close attention to one specific trait that should stand out among some of the most notable missionaries.
That trait is 'ENDURANCE', nothing speaks more to the glory of God then ENDURING toil. Perhaps when you think of praiseworthy events or testimonies you think of BIG and LOUD things in life, like a drastic deliverance, healing, or revival while unknowingly making light of what God is currently doing in you.
Faithful endurance requires much work, much humility, much faith, much pain, much trial, and much grace! If endurance was NOT worthy of praise then many even within the pages of scripture would seem to be failures because they had little to no numerical 'success'. Did Jesus fail because His followers were few when He was upon this earth? Did Moses fail because only 2 made it to the promised land? Certainly not!
The lives of such familiar missionaries as Hudson Taylor, William Carey, and John Livingstone (the list could go on), should encourage PARENTS to strive to be FAITHFUL to the commands of scripture regarding their children, because there will be PLENTY of days where the WORK of disciplining and training will be overwhelming and you WILL want to ease back (conforming to 'what most people do'). Oh the day will come PARENT where you will look back with joy, where you will see the fruit of your labor (as God desires it), it is always profitable to obey the Lord!
Likewise Minister, you must not be persuaded by the frowns or smiles of your people, keep your eyes set upon Christ. It is your duty to water and/or plant, it is the Lord's to give the increase. There will be doubtless days and seasons where through much agony and care you will do and say things that will only be met with slander and ingratitude, yet so it was with Christ! Don't grow weary in doing good for in due season you will reap..... Look to Christ and to His example for your motivation.
Ezekiel 3:10 And he said to me, "Son of man, listen carefully and take to heart all the words I speak to you. 11 Go now to your countrymen in exile and speak to them. Say to them, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says,' whether they listen or fail to listen."
