I was curious because you are taking quite a strong stand. So I wondered if you think people are dying because they are not recognizing Jesus or dying because they are coming to the Lord's table, getting drunk and whatnot and not recognizing their fellow believers.<BR/><BR/>Personally, I think it is speaking about Jesus spiritual presence, as Calvin understood communion. And so I don't think the Lord's table is merely a symbol, and thus people coming to the Lord's table without recognizing Jesus' spiritual presence are getting sick and dying. That is what I think it is talking about. But most people I've talked to believe the Lord's table is just a symbol and thus that passage is talking about not recognizing their fellow Christians. Some think it is talking about "Jesus spiritial presence"; most believe he means "our fellow Christians" when he says the Lord's body.
